I found this site by accident, and what a gift this is! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Klara Krogstad, who has written many of the letters, is my great grandmother, and reading her letters brought tears to my eyes. Her oldest daughter Mary (my grandmother) died in August this year, but her youngest son Svein is still alive, living in Trondheim.

It is amazing to read Klara's version of big and small events - some of them familiar, but told to me from other viewpoints by her decendants.

Many thanks for the correction Professor Zempel, and the kind words Terry - your foresight made this possible!

I'm in awe at this marvelous website, which you have created! What a
legacy to leave for future generations to come! Somehow I'm so glad
to have had the foresight to hang onto all of those letters all of these
years and now here we are. Best wishes.

What an interesting site and a wonderful project. I hope eventually it will be available and maybe linked on the NAHA site? I noticed a postcard that is listed as from "Animia" Minnesota. I am fairly sure that must be Onamia, a town near Mille Lacs Lake. Best of luck as you continue to work with this project.

The guestbook should now be working. We appreciate any feedback you might have about our letter archive.
