UTFLYTTINGSATTEST SIGNERT AV SOGNEPREST N. HORNEMAN, ØVRE STJØRDALEN, 31. JULI-1914.

THIS IS SOME SORT OF CERTIFICATE THAT JOHN FOR SOME REASON HAD TO GET IN ORDER TO LET THE AUTHORITIES KNOW THAT HE WAS LEAVING NORWAY AGAIN AFTER HIS VISIT IN 1914. NORMALLY THESE WOULD BE USED WHEN PEOPLE MOVED FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER OR ONE COUNTRY TO ANOTHER.

I don’t know how to translate the word “Utflytningsattest” correctly but “utflytning” means the noun “move” and “attest” means “certificate” or “attestation”.

Ifølge kirkebogen for Hegre Sogn er Johan Magnus Olsen Holm født av Forældre husmand Ole Markussen Holm og Hustru Karen Jakobsdatter i Hegre den 30te tredevte juni-1868 –a.h. sekstiotte, døpt den 20de september samme Aar og konfirmeret i Hegre den 20de tyvende april 1884 – a.h.ottetifire har kommuniceret og er saavidt vides ikke her bunden ved offentligt Ægteskabsløfte.  Han flyttet til Amerika i1889, hvor han er gift.  Har nu været hjemme på et kort besøk og agter snart at vende tilbake til Amerika.

Hvilket herved paa Embeds Vegne attesteres.  Øvre Stjørdalen den 31te juli 1914.

According to church records for Hegre Parish Johan Magnus Olsen Holm was born of Parents cotter Ole Markussen Holm and Wife Karen Jakobsdatter in Hegre on the 30^th thirtieth of June-1868 – e.h. sixtyeight, baptized on the 20^th of September same Year and confirmed in Hegre on the 20^th of April 1884 – e.h. eightyfour has communicated and is as far as is known not bound here by official Promise of marriage.  He moved to America in 1889, where he is married.  Has now been home for a short visit and intends to return to America shortly.  Which is hereby attested by power of my profession, Øvre Stjørdalen the 31^st of July 1914.  N.
