Dear uncle John!
Evelyn told me that you had written to her and that you like receiving letters from us in Norway.
My name is Sonja and I’m the oldest one of us born in 1914 the year you were in Norway.
I’ve been married for 7 years now. Have a little girl who’s 2 years old and called Berit like mother. I also have two big, good boys from my husband’s first marriage. He was a widower you see. My husband is a locomotive driver so we’re doing really well. We have an apartment close to the Domkirke (the Cathedral in Trondheim).
My husband and I have received Jesus as our personal saviour, so we are happy. The best of all is to have such matters taken care of whether you’re young or old. Mother is a christian and so is Agnes our half sister. Father often goes to listen to God’s word, but has unfortunately not received Jesus yet. We’ll just have to keep praying that he will. Understand from your letter that you’re ready and that pleases me very much.
Here in Trondheim we’ll soon get a visit from a choir from Minnesota. They’re going to travel around the country and give concerts. There are also many others from U.S.A. visiting here this summer.
We have a little summer house outside of town. We go there and live until the autumn starts. I’ll send you some pictures some time so that you’ll see it.
Father often visits us and has fun playing with his grandchildren.
Say hello to your loved ones and keep well
from Sonja Bakken
