Kjære kusine!
Takk for ditt siste. Håber dere lever i beste velgående.
Beste hilsen
Evelyn

Dear cousin!
Thank you for your last. It’s been such a long time now since I heard from you. Hope you all are doing fine. It’s your birthday soon. It would be fun if we could all get together for occasions like that. How’s Grace doing. I’ve written to her and thanked her for the beautiful handkerchief I got. She wrote that I should use it on the day I get married. We’ve postponed it constantly because of the housing shortage. Now it looks like we’ll get married around New Year’s. My fiance is living at his sister’s who’s married, so it’s not so strange that he wants to get married now. We’ve been engaged for so long too. Mother and father and I are doing quite well. They’re bothered by the arthritis, but that’s to be expected at their age.
You must tell Grace hello from me, hope she’ll write soon.
It’s dark and cold here now, yes, our short summer is now over, but the winter is charming too. Do you have any of your children at home now or are you alone. I guess you have a lot to do because I suppose you must work at uncle and auntie’s house. I see they’re both unwell now. Mother and I are going out now with Agnes’ oldest boy Sverre 4 years old. We’re going up to Sonja’s for a visit, she has such a cute little girl Berith. Berith is father’s pet. He calls her the princess.
Next summer you must take a trip to Norway. It’s nice here now in many ways. This summer there were so many Norwegian-Americans here. I travelled with a girl from New York this summer. A female student who was just crazy about Norway. You could go by plane the whole family. I would so much like to meet you all. I hope to hear from you soon. Hope Grace will write soon. Keep very well. Mother and father send their best regards.
Best wishes
Evelyn
