Good morning John.

I will now write a few words to you  This is the first letter I write in English so you must not be surprised if you find that something is wrong, for I do not know the English language so good as you.  You spek and write English as a native, but cannot do it.

I send you two pictures.  The biggest are taken in Narvik last summer.  The two men you see, are uncle Lyder and I.  We are sitting on the wall of a half built house.  The other picture is a winter-day I am going at ski (he means he’s skiing).

My father say that he also shall write you a letter.  Father have a lorry and a bus.  With the bus he drive the school children to the school and home from the school on the after-noon.

Now I will wish you and your friends a merry Christmas and a happy New-year.

Your friend Edvart.

Håper du forstår hva jeg har skrevet.  Når du skriver til meg, så må du skrive på Engelsk.

(Hope you understand what I’ve written.  When you write to me, you must write in English)
