Veggemo the 6/9-48 (Sept. 6)
Dear Alma!
Thank you for the stockings that I received a long time ago. They went really nicely with the dress. Well, now I’m confirmed, and finished with school. On the 4th of July I was confirmed. Edvart is finished with Junior High School, and got a good exam (meaning good results). Jan has started in 3rd grade. Dad is out driving. Mom is out picking berries. We’ve now gotten the hay indoors a long time ago, but got a lot less this year than last year. This fall we’ll get electric light. We’ve been using small lamps that have burned petroleum. We’ve had a Norwegian-American visiting this summer. He’s a good friend of dad’s. He went to America before mom and dad got married. His name is Martin Bjørgan, and he’s been in America for 18 years. He’s been home for 3 months, and is going back in October. Dad and Martin grew up at Søberg. Say hello to your mother from us.
Goodbye and keep well.
Write soon to me.
Regards Greta Søberg

(For some reason she writes her name without an h here, on the back of the envelope she has written Gretha).
