Kjære dere alle.

Tak for brev jeg netop har modtatt fra dig. og for pakken som jeg fik igår.  Du skal ha hjertelig tak  du har skrevet om knivene til Herborg  hun har foet dem og likeså øksa har jeg foet, og jeg har skrevet og takket  det er mulig at brevet er kommet på avveie.  Her er alt bare bra med os.  var hos mor i Hegra igår  hun er på det samme, lenges og lider, og venter på heimlov hos Gud.  Vi har et meget fint fint veir og kornet modnes og blir førsteklasses vare.  Så her blir et av Herren velsignet år.  Her er lite virksomhed meget stille.  Idag skal mor sin kvindeforening for kinamisjon ha udflukt til Flora  jeg skal vere med.  Astrid kona til vor gut Einar er på Tyttebærplukning ved Romsjø.  det lyse røtt bortover lyngen  du må tro det er fint.

I Bakeriet går det bra  nok at gjøre,  Di for leve og ha det bra.  Skal til byen på mandag.  Skal da se til Ole  han lever vel fint og har litt og gjøre.

Hils alle vores at vi har det godt i gamle Norge med de maistætiske fjelle og den blanke fjord og den durende foss som skaffer lys og kraft til nutte og glæde for vort folk.

Dear you all.

Thank you for the letter I’ve just received from you.  and for the package I received yesterday.  Thank you so much  you’ve written about the knives to Herborg  she has gotten them and likewise I’ve received the axe, and I’ve written and thanked you  it’s possible the letter has gotten lost.  Everything is fine here with us.  I went to see mother in Hegra yesterday  she’s the same, longing and suffering, and waiting to be allowed in with God.  We’re having very nice weather and the wheat is ripening and is going to be first class (not quite sure how to translate this, he says “korn”, but I’m almost sure he doesn’t mean the American kind of corn, as I don’t remember ever seeing that in Norway.  Besides, that’s called “mais” in Norwegian.  But I do remember the golden wheat in the fields, which I think is what people  called “korn”, meaning grain.).  So this will be a year blessed by the Lord.  There is little activity here  very quiet.  Today mother’s ladies’ association for the China mission is going on an outing to Flora (neighbouring village, close to Hegra)  I’m going with them.  Astrid the wife of our boy Einar is Cranberry picking by Romsjø.  there are so many of them they’re like a carpet of red  it really looks pretty.

In the Bakery everything is fine  enough to do,  Keep well all of you.  I’m going to town on Monday.  Will also look in on Ole  he’s probably fine and has something to do.

Greet all of ours and say we’re doing good in old Norway with the majestic mountains and the shining fjord and the roaring waterfall which provides light and power for the benefit and pleasure of our people.
